Auction item quality very poor - Edsal 4Level Storage Rack with ZincPlated Wire Decking


I purchased a metal shelving unit through Sam%u2019s Auction site. I paid over 100 plus shipping for a metal shelve I could purchase for $150 at Home Depot. However, thinking the heavy item would be delivered to my door, I decided to try the auction. The item weighing approximately 150 pounds was delivered and left at my door by Fed-ex. The box was so damaged that I had my doubts about the contents. Both ends of the box had obviously be open and sealed several times. There was old tape, new tape and missing cardboard sections covering the box. If I had been aware at delivery, I would not have accepted the box. I was really shocked at the condition of the box. I took pictures, of course. We moved the box to my garage and discuss what to do. Our decision, was that it was a metal shelve %u2013 let%u2019s open the box. Opening the box was difficult, because it had been taped so many times, thus, the box was basically destroyed when we tried to open it. On opening the box we discovered that almost every piece had some sort of damages including bent metal corners, scratches and misshapen pieces. I took pictures, of course. I immediately called Sam%u2019s and to report the problem because we had serious doubts about the integrity of the shelving unit. If I had to guess, the shelf had been used or put together at some point and then disassembled in a rather brutal manner. The lady stated she would refer it to the appropriately department. Someone would contact me. Well, my son and I decided to see if any of the pieces fit together while we waited. We waited days while this large metal shelf covered the floor of my garage. No call from Sam%u2019s, I finally called back and told the %u201Ccustomer relations lady%u201D my story. I told her the box was destroyed and I could not package the heavy item back up for return. She agreed and stated that she would recommend that I be repaid a large portion on the money and I would not go through the difficult task of packaging the item back up. Okay, then. I discarded the box, put the mangled shelving unit together the best I could %u2013 cannot trust heavy items on the bent shelves. I then get notification by email that I needed to package the item up for a return, a tag had been issued. I was surprised, I call Sam%u2019s again and explained the situation to the lady and told her of the decision formulated on the previous call. She said I would not get any type of discount because it was an auction item. Really, Sam%u2019s sends me a damaged, used metal shelving unit advertised as new and it is okay because it is an auction item. Buyer beware. Sam%u2019s does not do business in good faith. I am so infuriated that someone at Sam%u2019s thought it was okay to send out a shelving unit in that condition. Screw the customer. I would have waited weeks for the pickup. My suggestion, do not shop the auction or Sam%u2019s.
